JUST AN UPDATE

Everything is good at the Lacy house. Crazy busy, but loving life. The academy is going well. This week has been fun. We are getting into more application of laws. It is a lot easier to sit through classes with more interaction and less lecture. We have moved into basic Spanish this week, which is interesting. I do recall a little of Spanish from high school, but not much! We have also been doing some report writing. I love that part. It is interesting some of the pictures they have been giving us to write our reports about. Some of them are kind of gruesome, but it all goes with the territory. PT is of course an ever present part of our week at the academy. They are deffinitely millitary based. Our PT instructor was in the Marine Corp and it shows. That man LOVES to run. Yesterday we did sprints up the boat ramp after a three quarter mile run. Boy did I feel that today! He had us going front facing, side ways, and backwards.....lots of fun.
Michael is doing well. We had a fun weekend together for Mother's Day. Saturday Granny had the kiddo's and I took off of work for some R&R. I had a lazy morning and then met Michael at 2 when he got off of work. We went and had our eyes checked and then did some shopping for my Mother's Day present. I got a new outfit and a bathing suit. Then off to Hasting's and rented a movie. It was so nice to have an evening with my hubby!!
Sunday I went in to Robert Lee to get the boys and spend some time with my Granny. We had a great morning lazing around outside. Keaton and Trevor made me the sweetest card (with a little help from Granny). Keaton also melted my heart when I arrived. He looked up at me and said, "Mommy, you so petty!" It melted me to the core!! After our fun morning at Granny's we headed off to Michael's parent's house for some brisket and potato salad! It was DELICIOUS!! We spent the evening there and let the boys swim and play. All in all, it was a wonderful day.
The only gripes I have at the moment is POTTY TRAINING!! I don't know why, but Keaton still refuses to go to the potty. It is even more frustrating that while swimming he will stop, get out of the pool, and go potty(#1 and #2) with no prompting what-so-ever. However, when it comes to going inside he refuses. Even with encouragement and prompting, he just looks at me and says(very politely), "No thanks." Then if I force him to go anyway, the battle is on. I'm stuck and don't know what action to take. If there are any recommendations, PLEASE send them my way!!
That is all for now, sorry I have been an absentee friend.....Hope all is well with everybody!

SO SO SORE!!

Okay, so, I'm really not good at keeping up with my blog consistantly, but I'm finally going to post all of the news from the Lacy Family!

It has been a crazy few weeks! I guess I should start with Trevor.....Yes, he is still alive! All of his lab work came back fine. Dr. Sawyer said it might have just been teeth and suggested motrin/tylenol every four hours. So, we did that regime for a few days and had good results. After about 3 days, all symptoms of anything being wrong went away and he is now back to his fun loving self! Yay!!

As for me, I'm officially in "Rookie School!" I started the police academy on the 20th. So far so good. It is hard, but so so interesting. The most challenging for me so far is the PT. I feel like my muscles are screaming right now. We did our physical assessment on Monday and I have hardly been able to walk since! We did push-ups, sit-ups, 300meter run, 1 1/2 mile run, vertical jump and sit and reach. I am for sure not in shape, but didn't fare to badly in the running. I have to shave just under a minute off of my 1 1/2 mile, and met the qualifications in the 300meter run. But, the way I look at it, I have 15 weeks to take that minute off which really shouldn't be hard!! I'm really not so worried about the running, it's more the push-ups and sit-ups! (It is really amazing how two kids can make abdominal muscles non existant) The classes are the fun part for me though. They cram as much information as they can, but it is fun course material. We have 2 or more tests a week....and it is required that we maintain an 80% average or we get put on academic probation. So far so good in that area. The instructor's have really done a great job of presenting the material in ways that make it fun and interesting. Today we had the district attorney come and speak on burden of proof. Very fun stuff....

Anyway, that is really all on that subject....

The kiddo's have been at Granny's house a few days a week. Keaton has dubbed it "Camp Granny" and couldn't be more happy to be there! They have a blast. Keaton has loved painting with some art supplies that Granny got him and Trevor spends ALL of his time out side playing in the little swimming pool she has out there for them. They both also love tormenting the poor dogs that my Granny has!! When they are with Granny, I talk to them frequently and Keaton is always way to busy for Mommy, but my Trevor man always says hi, but then promptly says "play, Mommy, I love you. Bye Mommy!" The toughest part of the academy is missing my time with my little guys!!
That is all of the news from here....I hope all is well out there in the blogger world!!

Lab Work....Uggghhhh!

So, I did take Trevor in to the Dr.'s office today, which turned into an all morning event! He does not have an ear infection, but Dr. Sawyer saw the way he was acting and also thought something MUST be wrong. He just really isn't himself! I have never had him act this way and I really do not think it is behavioral and from Dr. Sawyer's reaction he obviously didn't either. He sent us over to the Lab for all kinds of work......yuck! However if there is something really wrong I would rather know now than later.
They took a urine sample, a stomach x-ray and drew blood. Needless to say I think my child will be terrified of any person in scrubs for the rest of his life! I'll have to admit I'm not their biggest fan today either. I know they are just doing their job and they did it very efficiently so I really have nothing to complain about except it is so hard to hold my baby down while they are poking and prodding and imaging! Here Trevor thinks I am supposed to be his protector and I'm aiding and abetting(Sp) these "mean" people.....
Keaton was an absolute doll through it all though. The whole time they were taking Trevor's blood and Trevor was screaming, Keaton was sitting beside us saying over and over, "It's okay Trevor, You're okay!" He had the most concerned expression on his little face and was trying to be such a comfort to Trevor! I love that he has that heart!
We were supposed to have a baby-sitter tonight, as Michael's and my schedules overlapped, but I ended up taking off of work to be at home with Trevor boy. I just couldn't leave him with a baby-sitter tonight. I felt I needed to be here to assure him his little world is safe.
The Dr.'s office did call to let me know that his stomach x-ray and urine sample both came up clear of anything wrong. So, now it's waiting for the blood work to come back.
Now, I feel like a chump because it's looking like nothing is wrong and I wasted time and money.....I hate that feeling! However, I keep telling myself it's better to be safe rather than sorry!
Well, I hope to report good news on his blood work tomorrow!

Yay, I'm so excited. One more step closer to the Academy! I went and took my entrance exam today and passed, so I now only have to take my physical and oral boards. I am so excited.....

In other news, Keaton and Trevor are constantly fighting and I have no clue how to handle it. I know that they love each other, they just do not show it nearly as often as I would like. Keaton hits Trevor for no apparent reason and then, to get back, Trevor runs over and takes whatever toy is Keaton's most prized possession for that ten minutes and runs as hard and fast as he can! That is what makes up our entire day!! To top it off, I really don't think Trevor is feeling very well. He keeps crying randomly and is so clingy right now. He is usually so easy and happy go lucky. Right now he doesn't have much of an appetite and isn't sleeping well at all! I think it may be an ear infection. I will probably be calling the Dr.'s office in the morning to see if they can check him out.

Well, that's all of the news for now. I hope everybody has a great week!

Fun Fun Day

Today was such a great day! Granny came yesterday and picked up the Trevor man for a few days, so today was a special day with Keaton. I try to do things with him that we usually wouldn't do if Trevor were her. So, we got up this morning and had a lazy morning eating fruit and hanging out, then it was off to the Library. Keaton absolutely LOVES to go to the library and look at books. He could spend hours there looking through the books. We don't go too often when I have both of the boys because all Trevor wants to do at this point is pull books off of shelves. It makes it so hard to give Keaton the time and attention with the books if I'm picking up after Trevor! So, we got in the van and headed to the library and all Keaton could talk about was a book about dinosaurs. We have SO many books about dinosaurs at home already, so I was trying to talk him into a book about something else.......I don't know why I even bothered because we had barely turned the corner into the children's books that he found about 3 books he REALLY wanted and there wasn't one dinosaur book among them! So we got those books to take home but looked at a lot more while we were there. I think he's got a list going of books to bring home the next time!!
Then we went home and made "pigs in a blanket" together. He had a blast rolling up the hot dogs in the dough. After every one he asked "can I do it?" It was so much fun. Then we got to put them into the oven and he watched them "get fat" as they cooked. After they were cooked and ready he ate so good. I guess he was proud to get to reap the rewards of his hard labor.....ha/ha. All in all we had a great day just enjoying some special time together.
Michael is planning to take him to the park with a pic-nic for dinner tonight while I'm at work and they are going to find bugs to examine in the bug box. I found the cutest little bug container with a magnifying lid so he can get a closer look! He was so excited to go scouting and get "butterflies and bugs."
I love getting to spend one on one time with my little guys!

We did survive the flu...

Well, I know it's been a while since my last post, it seems there is NEVER enough time in a day! We did all survive the flu and have thrown in a birth day party since my last post.
Keaton turned 3 on the 14th. I can't believe my baby is getting so so big. It seems too that he has suddenly gained such a vocabulary! He just floors me when he spits out a whole sentence or starts his own conversation. The other day he was on the phone with Michael's mom and she was talking about all of his new toys he had gotten for his birthday when all of a sudden he said "My toes are sticky." She said, "Your toys ar sticky?" To which he replied, "NO, my TOES are sticky, I stepped in something!" She and Michael just died laughing. It is amazing how fast little guys develope, grow and learn!
In other news, I have applied to the Police Academy that starts in April. I am so excited, but nervous at the same time! I have all of my paper work in and just lack the physical, the pre-entrance exam and the oral boards before I know if I will be accepted. Lots of exciting changes to come.
Michael is doing well with his Management Training Program and had his mid-term last week. He passed and is now the only one from the San Angelo Lowe's still in the program. Yay, I couldn't be more proud of him!!
That's all of the news from the Lacy family for now. Hope everybody is having a great week!

What a CRAZY week.....

My sick boys, snuggled up for movie time!!

Well, I think that the boys are on the mend. They are of course still a little cranky, but deffinately feeling a little better. Their fever's still come and go, but it is certainly not in the 103/104 range any more, however Keaton did have to go to the Dr. in the end. Yesterday he woke up from a nap crying and saying "ouch, it hurts." It took us a little bit, but we finally got out of him that his ear was hurting him....poor little guy!! I am so thankful that he is at an age now that he can communicate when something like that is going on, so we called the Dr. and got an appointment and then Michael called in to work so that he could stay at home with the boys instead of my Granny coming in to watch them. When the Dr. checked Keaton over he said "This boy knows what he's talking about!" So we got a prescription for antibiotics and were on our way. He did also check Trevor's ears while we were there and they were clear. Through it all God's provision and protection has been so evident! He allowed us to have the comfort of knowing that Granny was there with the boys while we could not be and then with our schedules for Keaton's Dr's appointment and Michael being able to stay at home with them. As it was, I went in to work abouut 1 1/2 hours late because of Keaton's Dr's appointment. When I called my boss to request the time so that I could be at the appointment and Michael wouldn't have to be by himself with both of the kiddo's he didn't even hesitate and just said, "Do what you have to do for your family, it's not a problem." I also took today off so that I can be at home and Michael can go to work. I do not always love the fact that I am working, but if I need to work for the time being, I am so thankful I have a job with such an understanding boss! I have yet to have any problems taking off because I didn't have somebody to watch the boys or they are sick.....it really is a blessing!! I also have to brag on my hubby....he has been absoulutely AMAZING this week. So attentive to both the boys' needs and mine.

One more thing on a side note.....I can not stand electronics!! Michael recently ordered a new monitor for the computer and it came in this week, so last night he finally had a few minutes after the boys went to bed to unpackage it and get it out. When he did, it was broken! So now that he has read the policy for returns/exchanges for the web site he ordered it from we find out he can only exchange the product and that we have to pay the shipping and handling on top of a 15% re-stocking fee(whatever that is)!! Lots of fun!!!

Sick babies!

So, this week at my house has not been very much fun. It started with Keaton at about 3am Tuesday morning. He crawled into bed with Michael and me, he was burning up and begging for water. I got up and got him some water but didn't have the energy yet to take his temp. At 4:20am Michael got up to be at work by 5 and Keaton was even hotter, so I took his temp and it was 103.5...Yikes! Time to start tylenol and motrin!! Then Trevor man came down with the same symptoms.....By 3:30 pm Keaton's fever got to 104.5. So scary, and I had yet to hear from his Dr.'s office that I had called at noon!! Finally they called me back at 4pm and said, yep it sounds like flu, they really need to be seen for a drug called tamaflu that can take the symptoms away if caught within 24 hrs....unfortunately their Dr is seeing his last patient of the day. I was not happy! So, we didn't go to the ER or a walk in Clinic, because in my mind....."Kids have been making it through the flu for years with no tamaflu!" So we are pushing through and on the mend. The worst part of it all is that the boys were supposed to be going for a few days with Granny in Robert Lee because of Michael's an my schedules conflicting and crossing over where the boys would need a sitter. Usually I would just take some comp time or sick time, no problem.....BUT, I was put on the midnight schedule to help with training a new hire, so there was NO calling in for me with one of the other experienced dispatchers (that is usually on the mids shift) having 2 weeks off for vacation. Michael has just switched positions at work and didn't feel that it would be wise for him to take off.....So, in the end Granny has been a trooper and woke up at 3:30 in the morning to get to our house by 4:30 so Michael could be at work by 5 and she could watch the boys until 8am when I got off of work. Whew, anybody else confused by our schedule!! I am exhausted between work and sick kiddo's.
I am ready for the crazy schedule at work to be over. Luckily I only had 2 nights on the midnight schedule, but I do have to do a turn-around, which means, I will get off of work at 8am(in 4 hrs) and then have to be back at work at 4pm to work my normally scheduled shift...What a week! I am just thankful that Michael will be off when I get home so I can go straight to bed and get my zzzzzz's. And of course that I have an amazing Granny that is willing and able to help out as much as she does!!
Well enough of my woe's for now, I hope everybody is having a great week and that you all avoid this yucky flu!!

Blogging for dummies?.....

Okay, I'm not very good at the blogging thing and I have only one follower.....so, Cami if you could give me tips it woul be GREAT!! I don't know how to invite people to view my blog! I love reading everybody elses though.....

Today was so much fun! Keaton, Trevor and I went to the Chicken Farm which is an art community. I didn't know much about it, but a friend from work invited us to go out and mentioned pizza and burgers.....(enough said for me!) So this morning we got the house cleaned and headed for the Chicken Farm. When we got there, Keaton checked everywhere for the chickens......much to his dismay, there were none to be found!! He then turned to me and said "Can we go to the Chicken Farm now?" I told him that we were there and he looked at me so sad and said "But, no chickens, this not a chicken farm!" Then my friend, Angela, showed up and created a little bit of distraction while we ate pizza and burgers. After we ate Keaton looked at me and said "still no chickens?" So I told him no, no chickens, his reply was "fine, we go home now." So we loaded up in the car and went home. The boys were asleep before we got home, so I got a nap too. Despite there being NO chickens, we had a pretty good time.
Well, I'll be off work soon and we have a big day going to Robert Lee tomorrow to see my Granny and my mom will be in town for the day, so it should be a fun filled exhausting day!!
